Kenneth Raymond Lakin, age 92, of Lincoln, IL/Sun CIty, AZ passed away on January 4, 2020. He was born in Chestnut, Illinois to the late Raymond and Leah (Stoll) Lakin. He is survived by his loving wife, Darline, three sons, Gary (Teri) of Springfield, IL, Roger (Mary) of Peoria, IL, Larry (Corolla) of Widefield, CO, his daughter Connie Kasper of Griffin, GA, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and sister Linda (Bill) Martinie of FL.
Ken was a 1945 graduate of Beason High School in Beason, IL. He was a true entrepreneur starting as a young teen buying a hay baler and using his dad’s tractor to start his first business. After serving in the Navy, he began his career as a farmer eventually adding electrical and construction work for Albert Bros. Builders as a second career as well as selling Pioneer Seed corn. He later went on to start his own construction business, Ken-Ed Co., which was based in Lincoln, IL for several years. His business endeavors were expanded into real estate sales in both Illinois and Arizona. He was instrumental in the development of Sierra Winds retirement community in Peoria, AZ and served on the board for many years. Ken was active in the Lutheran Church in both IL and AZ and served as an elder for many years.
