Justin was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 6. The disease deprived him of his ability to walk, to use his arms and hands, and to talk (without the aid of an assistive device). Justin became dependent on others to perform even the most basic tasks - tasks that most of us take for granted, such as bathing, eating, and transferring from and to his bed.
Despite his many health challenges and loss of independence, Justin’s spirit, perseverance and appreciation for life remained strong. He never complained, and he never once felt sorry for himself.
Simple things made him happy – hearing his niece laugh, watching the beautiful Arizona sunsets, listening to the sounds of a fountain, or taking a brief sip of water. Justin viewed life as a gift, and he loved being with family and friends.
Justin is survived by his father (Glen), mother (Carmen), sister (Briana), and niece (Adalynn).
Justin will be deeply missed. His strength, beautiful smile and positive attitude touched so many people in so many ways. His spirit will live on forever.
