Joseph W. Accardi “Pa Dukes” 92, of Peoria AZ, passed away peacefully in a memory care home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia on September 6th, 2021. Joseph was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Clifton, NJ where his Children was raised. He later retired to Peoria, Arizona.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Eleanor and the former husband and cherished friend to Mary.
Joseph was the loving father of Eleanor, Kerri, Joseph, and Johnny (Bones Brothers), Father-in-Law to Dave, Kristen, and Lisa. Proud Grandfather of Christopher, Toni, Ava, Emily, and Joseph Tyler (JT).
Proud Great Grandfather of Isabella and Sophia. Son of the late Anna DiMaria.
Brother of Catherine Wargo, and the Late Frank Accardi, his twin brother.
He was a loving and caring father and grandfather. A US Army veteran of the Korean War where he was best known for his excellence on the baseball field. He considered them the best days of his life before his children were born. He was proud to be a personnel manager at IBM and Ceridian. He was extremely organized which made him great at his job and his homelife.
All who met him were taken in by his personality. He was funny, honest and above all loving. He could tell a story like no other and make anyone laugh. He had a saying for everything, and we will never forget them. His life was colorful, and he loved young people which kept him young. He was never old even when he turned 92. Young at heart and mind until this terrible disease took hold of him. He loved food and his family. He was a great provider and protector. No one ever took advantage or talked badly about his family. He was truly an inspiration to every one of us. We will miss him terribly, but he will always be remembered. Joe Accardi made an impression to anyone who knew him.
He will be laid to rest at a private memorial on September 23rd in the Long Island National Cemetery.
