James Donald Renshaw, Sr., of Surprise, AZ, passed away on October 23, 2014, at the age of 89. He was born in Hollywood, CA on January 20, 1925, to Ernest A. Renshaw and Helen Miller Renshaw. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 70 years, Dorothy, who he met at a USO dance in 1943 and knew that very night that she was “the one”; 3 children and their spouses, Jim Jr. (Barbara) of Surprise, Sharon Lunday (Mike) of Rapid City, SD, and Deborah Turner (Craig) of Tucson, who loved him beyond measure; 8 grandchildren, Scott, David, Amanda, Cynthia, Jennifer, Jessica, Nicole and Victoria, who knew him to be the best Papa in the entire world; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and his brother Tom and wife, Nina, of San Diego.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sunland Memorial Park. Private services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley (www.hov.org), who offered the family so much support over the last month, or any of the following organizations that Jim supported regularly: The Salvation Army, St. Mary’s Food Bank and the USO.
