Henry E Wieland

Judge Henry E. Wieland, 62 of Scottsdale passed away on December 25, 2015 on his most beloved holiday after a 9-year struggle with early onset Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diane, mother Joan Wieland, sister Kathleen Richter and brothers John and Paul as well as 8 nieces and nephews. Born in Queens, NY Henry graduated from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, MN in 1982. He began his career as assistant county attorney for Meeker County, MN then became a prosecuting attorney for the City of Bloomington, MN where he also assisted with negotiations for the Mall of America project. He moved to Arizona in 1997 to assume hearing officer responsibilities for the City of Tempe courts. Henry (Hank) will always be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit and sparkling blue eyes that crinkled and disappeared when he found something particularly humorous. He was a voracious consumer of knowledge on many topics and loved a good intellectual conversation about all things historical and political. Henry's family wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley and Above and Beyond Assisted Living for their most gracious and exceptional care. A thousand thanks also to Kevin Williams who came into his life at just the right moment, not only as a caregiver but also as a devoted friend. A memorial mass and luncheon to honor Henry will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Scottsdale, AZ.
