Sharon was a Sulphur native and attended the First Baptist Church of Sulphur. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1964, and received her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Elementary Education from McNeese. She taught at EK Key Elementary for 11 years and did substitute teaching for 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sharon was a fine woman who ensured her children were raised in a good Christian home.
Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, Carlos Babaz; sons, Patrick Babaz and his wife Tararra, Michael Babaz and Randy Babaz and his wife Kara, all of Sulphur; siblings, William Timothy Howell, Jr., and his wife Charmian, Sandra Wilkinson, Gloria Jean Votava and her husband Richard, David Lewis Howell and his wife Gail, Debra Louise Curry and her husband Steven, and Nancy Gaye Nell Koonce and her husband David; and grandchildren Whitney, Austin, Reese and Aubree Babaz.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mavis and William Howell.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, in the First Baptist Church of Sulphur. The Rev. David Holder will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 9-10 a.m. at the church.
