Phillip John Gillard, age 64, a resident of Sulphur, LA and lifelong resident of Southwest Louisiana, passed on February 13, 2021 after a difficult battle with COVID-19. Phil was born in 1956 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Stanford and Melba Gillard. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Alisa Gillard, and his mother, Melba.
Phil is also survived by his five children, Josh, Luke, Paul, Samm and Holly Gillard. He was the middle of three children, and is survived by his two siblings, Paula Perkins and Scott Gillard. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Damien, Nicholas, Lily, and Sawyer.
Phil worked as a Piping Designer in the petrochemical industry for many decades in the Southwest Louisiana area, working at Levingston Group LLC for many years and more recently for ReCon Management Services.
Phil was a devout Catholic and was an active parishioner of St. Theresa's in Sulphur. Phil was also an avid rifleman and enjoyed spending his free time building and shooting rifles. In his youth, he was a standout baseball player, and as a father, he enjoyed coaching his children and passing on his love of baseball.
More than anything, Phil was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather to a big Cajun family. His priorities were centered on his family first throughout his life, and he passed these values on to his children.
Phil will be laid to rest at Mimosa Pines in Sulphur, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, Phil’s family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The funeral will be limited to immediate family to prevent further tragedies during this pandemic, but there will be a Facebook Live streaming of the event which will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 1PM local time.
