He was a native and lifelong resident of Hackberry. Norman was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and collecting rocks. He worked for many years in the oil production field.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Debbie Ann East of Hackberry; his mother, Wilda East of Hackberry; his siblings, Mary Poage of Abbeville, Annette East of Hackberry, Jackie Payne of Sulphur, Brenda East of Magnolia, Texas, and Jack East of Hackberry; his adoptive son, Ricky Smith and wife, Skyla Richard of Kinder; his beloved dog, Chloe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Norman East; brother, Daniel East; and a sister, Patricia LeBlanc.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, in St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Arvind Minz, HGN will officiate. Burial will be in Hackberry Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church hall from 4-8 p.m. Monday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday.
