CARLYSS - Mary Lou Landry Herman, 87, of Carlyss, Louisiana passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Mary the first daughter of Norbert & Ida Belaire Landry arrived on November 15, 1933 in St. Martinville, Louisiana.
Mary was only 11, when her widowed mother decided to start a new life and moved her family to Orange, Texas. She attended and graduated from Saint Mary Catholic School. When her Army soldier returned from the Korean War, they were married on October 24, 1951 and had 49 years together. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who will be missed greatly and live in our hearts forever. She was born and raised Catholic and grew to love being a devoted parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Harold Herman, her husband, Gus Herman, her parents, Norbert and Ida Landry, a brother, Joe Herman, and a sister, Rena Hudson.
Those left to cherish memory are her son, Bill Herman and wife, Mollie; daughter, Punkin Reider and husband, Bill; daughter, Meme Espinosa and husband, Romeo; daughter-in-law, Kim Herman; her grandsons, Bryon Herman, Drew Herman, Josh Herman, Cade Herman, Rusty Reider, Chase Reider, Bill Reider, Jr., David Espinosa, Blake Latiolais; her granddaughters, Heather Latiolais, Lyndee LeMaire; her sisters, Theresa LaPorte and Cheryl Orta; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss with a Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Luke Krzanowski, M.S. will officiate. Cremation to follow at a later date.
