She was a native of New Orleans and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 47 years. She was a U.S. Navy veteran where she served as a Radioman. She enjoyed reading, decorating cakes, and sewing. Mike was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. She retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board working with special needs students.
Survivors include her children, Dana Whittington and husband, Don of Sulphur, Dixie Love of Arizona, Caline Pittman of Sulphur, and Tracy Barnes and husband, Jim of Iowa state; one brother, Alan Reinecke of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Justin Moak, Jordan Moak, Brooke Barnes, Jenna Barnes, and Erika Whittington; and six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Evelyn, Isaac, Kacie, Colbie, and Cooper. She is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Pittman; and her brothers, Hervey "Muggy" Reinecke, Jr. and Robert Reinecke.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 27, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Edward J. Richard, M.S., V.F. will officiate. A Cursillo Rosary will be held at 9:45 a.m. before the memorial service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings.
