Louise Meche Granger, 96, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Church Point and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 70 years. Louise was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed reading, gardening flowers, and taking care of her cows.
Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Vincent and husband, Donald of Sulphur; one son, George Meche and wife, Jackie of Lake Charles; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her spouses Cyprian Meche and John Clint Granger; son, Francis "Blackie" Meche; daughter-in-law, Brenda Meche; and her ten siblings.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 9, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Winiarski will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday with a Legion of Mary Rosary at 5 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
