Mr. Hebert, a Hackberry native, has resided in Sulphur for 61 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, a former Rough Neck worker in the oilfield industry, and a retired from Ward 4 Recreation's Maintenance Department. Mr. Hebert enjoyed working in his garden and relaxing on his porch.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Theresa Moss Hebert; son, Lester J. Hebert, Jr. and wife Jeanita Faye of Sulphur; daughter, Fabia Thomason and husband Rayford of Sulphur; brother, A.J. Hebert; sister, Earline Deason; five grandchildren, Doug Hebert, Joey Hebert, Robert Hebert, Julie Thomason and Jodi Thomason; and eight great-grandchildren, Amber Hebert, Chris Hebert, Alanea Hebert, Barry Hebert, Abby Hebert, Drew Hebert, Isaac Hebert, Hailee Swier, and one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dupre Hebert, Sr. and Ellen Hebert; a brother; and a sister.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2014 in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Richard, M.S. will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South of Carlyss. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, 3 - 7 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume Saturday 8 - 10:30 a.m. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
