He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur and was a 1969 Sulphur High School graduate. He worked for many years as an industrial painter with Canon-Sline until his retirement, and was a member of IUPAT (International Union of Painters and Allied Trades). Kenneth was a member of Vincent Baptist Church in Carlyss. He enjoyed playing tennis, racquetball, BBQing, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids playing his "special" kind of Uno. He was known as the "Fun Uncle" often playing jokes and pranks on his friends and family. Kenneth never met a stranger and always wanted to help make someone else's day a little brighter.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jackie Stegall of Sulphur; his daughters, Kendra Gates and husband, Robert of Gillis, and Sonya Caswell and husband, Randall of Carlyss; his bonus daughter, Monica Hughes and husband, Aaron of Colorado; his siblings, Bobby Stegall of McKinney, Texas, Truman Stegall and wife, Judy of Sulphur, Patsy and Johnny Bergeron of Aubrey, Texas, and Shirley Clifton-Duhon of Wichita Falls, Texas; and his grandchildren, Noah Gates, Trevor Gates, Taylor Breaux and husband, Aaron, Cimmerron James Wren, II and wife, Caitlin, Kelsie Primeaux and husband, Jacob, and Nicolas Hughes; and nine great-grandchildren, Cayson Wren, Claira Wren, Sebastian Wren, Brooklynn Wren, Jaylen Reed, Conor Breaux, Kamareya Primeaux, Jastyn Primeaux, and Addisyn Primeaux. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wyley Stegall, Sr. and Gloria Mae Miller Stegall; and his siblings, John Wyley "Johnny" Stegall, Jr. and Carolyn Beeson.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. James Bradley McKelvyn will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
