Joseph Hampton Marcantel, 76, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at his camp on Bundicks Lake in DeRidder, LA. He was born to his late parents, Joseph Allen and Anna Lou Marcantel, on November 1, 1946 in Lake Charles, LA. He enjoyed going to the river, woodworking, fishing, duck and alligator hunting, and passing a good time with his family and friends. After working many years in the local Industrial Plants, he retired from Westlake Chemical in 2012. He was proud of his service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded medals for National Defense, Good Conduct, Expert Rifleman, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Device, and Vietnam Service with two Bronze Stars.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Catherine Dixon Marcantel; children, David Scott Marcantel (Kim) of Plaquemine, LA, Lori Jo Miller (Tim) of Sulphur, LA, Dennis Michael Marcantel (Tasha) of Grosse Tete, LA, Jon' Patrice Jones (Chris) of Iowa, LA, Patrick Joseph Marcantel (Missy) of St. Amant, LA, Paul Joseph Marcantel (Haley) of Plaquemine, LA; siblings, Allen Ray Marcantel (Gaylon) of Hermitage, AR, Vera Lou Serice of Sulphur, LA, and Marcus Kevin Marcantel of Iowa, LA; grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan (Justin), Joseph Miller, Madolyne Miller, Maddyson Miller, Danielle Marcantel, Beth Marcantel, Alexis Jones, Olivia Marcantel, Victoria Jones, Caden Marcantel, Jack Marcantel, Emma Grace Marcantel, Kate Marcantel, Addie Grace Marcantel, and Kinleigh Jones; along with great grandchildren, Aidan Kilgore, Warren Courmier, Westlynn Miller, Julius Marks, and Ryder Walker.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Allen and Anna Lou Marcantel of Iowa, LA; and his in laws, John and Gloria Dixon of Sulphur, LA.
Visitation will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 4-6 PM. There will be a Rosary at 6:30 PM led by Paul and Haley Marcantel with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7 PM officiated by Deacon Patrick LaPoint, Sr. A private burial will be held at a later date at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Sulphur, LA.
