John D. "Snookie" Busby, 77, died at 3:54 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, in a local hospital.
John lived in Sulphur for the last 7 years, moving from Hackberry. He was a member of the Magnolia Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons. He loved fishing off the pier, and especially, spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors inlcude his loving wife of 53 years, Sally Busby; sons David Busby of Sulphur,Quentin Busby and his wife Angelia, of Sulphur, and Tony Busby and his wife Marguerite, of Sulphur; sister Blanche "Sis" Gilley of Lake Charles; brother Thomas "T.R." Busby of Gillis; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and his dog Jolie.
He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Mary Busby; and his brother Wilmer Busby.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 23, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. David Gunter will officiate. Burial will be in the New Hackberry Cemetery in Hackberry. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30-10 a.m. Monday, all in the funeral home.
