James D. Koonce

He was a native of Jonesboro, Louisiana and had been a resident of Sulphur. James was a U.S. Marine Corps Korean War Veteran.

Survivors include his children, Rita Reed of Sulphur, Mike Koonce of Magnolia, Texas, Daniel Koonce of Sulphur, and John E. Koonce of Wellston, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Mary Gibbons Koonce and his sisters, Peggy Ritter and Edith Clark.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 25, in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
