Dot was raised in Johnson Bayou, lived in Hackberry for 35 years and moved to Carlyss in 2008. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Dot worked as an emergency room nurse for St. Patrick’s Hospital for 12 years. She was a bus driver for Cameron Parish School Board and retired after 22-1/2 years of service. She also was a past-president of the Louisiana Bus Drivers Association. Dot loved gardening and playing in her flower beds. She enjoyed traveling and especially shopping. She adored her grandchildren and spoiling them was her greatest joy.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Domingue of Sulphur, Russell Domingue and wife Jana of Lake Charles, Billie Joe “B.J.” LaBove of Sulphur, Shannon LaBove and wife Katie of Sulphur; parents, Robert and Velma Merritt of Johnson Bayou; brother, Michael Merritt and wife Theresa of Johnson Bayou; sister, Helen Landry and husband Bryan of Hathaway; her precious grandchildren, Michael Allen Domingue and her only great-grandchild, Bentley Allen Domingue of Sulphur, Steven James Domingue and his wife Chelsea of Humble, Texas, Ali Claire LaBove and Channing Paul LaBove of Sulphur.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, the love of her life and best friend, George LaBove Jr.; grandbaby, Kasey LaBove; sisters, Margaret Saltzman and Delores LaBove.
Visitation will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home 3—9 p.m. Wednesday, a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Visitation will resume Thursday at 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church of Carlyss. The Rev. Ernest J.
