David grew up in Iota, Louisiana, and graduated from Iota High School, where he was active in football and track, holding state records in offensive rushing and touchdowns. He attended the University of Southwest Louisiana and McNeese State University. David was employed at W.R. Grace in Sulphur
.
David loved the Lord and was a member of Henning Memorial United Methodist Church in Sulphur. He was devoted to and loved his family. He enjoyed raising a garden and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Maribeth Ellender Dietz, sons Jacob and Jack Dietz, all of Sulphur; Parents Tommy and Anna Mae Dietz of Iota, sisters, Jennifer Aube of Slidell, Margaret “Angie” Noe and Husband Jerry, and Leah Bertrand and husband Anthony, and brother Joe Dietz and wife Mary, all of Iota; mother and father-in-law E.J. and Mary Ellender of Sulphur; sister-in-lawAdena Frazier and husband Johnny of Beaumont, Texas; brother-in-law Joe Ellender and wife Katrina of Sulphur; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his infant children, Sarah Catherine and Will Dietz.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Leger, Bob Jones, Joe Dietz, Eric Richardson, Shane Miller and Joe Ellender.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 16, in Henning Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Doug Cain will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial funeral home. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service at the church. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
