Betty was a native of Rayne and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 19 years, moving from the Dallas area. She was a member of the "Diamond Dancers" where she along with her friends would entertain others with their dance shows. She enjoyed going to the recreation center in Westlake to exercise. Betty worked for Weight Watchers for many years before her retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Thomas Hankins of Sulphur; her daughters, Sheryl Henson and husband, Gary of Westlake and Heather Hankins Capps and husband, David of McKinney, Texas; her granddaughter, Megan Henson of Westlake; her grandson, Tommy Fitzgerald of Westlake; and three great-grandchildren, TJ Fitzgerald, Zoey Burnett, and Griffin Farr. She is preceded in death by her son, Greg Breaux; her grandparents who raised her, Martial and Lucille Broussard; her parents, Klebe and Lucille Benoit; her sister, Anna Stoot; and her granddaughter, Kayla Fitzgerald.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Minister Tim Bergen officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially Asha Wheeler and Julie Jones for the amazing care that was given to Betty.
