Alice Sonnier Aucoin, age 89, our beautiful mother's earthly journey began on March 5, 1933, being born at her grandmother's house in Orangefield, Texas, to parents, Alberta and Joseph Oran Sonnier of Sulphur, LA.
Mama's journey came to a peaceful end at her home in Texas on the morning of May 18, 2022 when her Heavenly Father called her home. Mama and daddy (Alvin "Bucky" Aucoin) were married in 1950 and mama was a loving, dedicated partner to our dad until his passing in 2013.
Mama's twinkling eyes and beautiful smile would light up a room but it was her heart that taught her children to love, to have faith in our Lord Jesus and in the power of prayer. Her incredible spirit taught us to persue and to never give up, to make the best out of every situation, and live our lives to the best of our abilities. Our mother was a blessing to all of her children and grandchildren, her hugs and kisses and telling us how much she loved us will be missed so very much!
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Debra Shaddock (Chris), Marilyn Lasater (Jackey), O. Kent Aucoin (Yao), and Tanya Swindoll (Jody), 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins and friends many of which she considered as family as they called her "mama".
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home and will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel. Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux and Pastor Arvin Harrell will lead services. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery, Carlyss.
