Malvin Leroy Mican was born on May 7, 1941, in Weimar, Texas, to Cyrill A. Mican and Annie
T. Herzik. Throughout his life, Malvin was dedicated to his family, work, and community. He
served in the United States Army in a tank division, where he earned the commendation of
sharpshooter with a rifle. After his service in the Army, he continued his commitment in the
National Guard of Texas.
A skilled pattern maker and carpenter, Malvin enjoyed creating furniture for his loved ones and
took pride in his craftsmanship. He also had a love for gardening, fishing, drawing, camping, and
barbecuing—activities he often shared with family and friends.
Malvin is preceded in death by his parents, Cyrill and Annie Mican, and his sister, Betty
Ruzicka. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Barbara Mican; daughters, Tina Jaciuk
and husband Steve, Michele Mican, and Tamara Mican and husband Ronald Odom; as well as his cherished
grandchildren, Jessica, Steven, Joshua, Noah, Samantha, Miranda, and great grandchildren Damien, J.J., Payton, Maddy,
Aurora, Kingsley, and Athena.
The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Methodist Hospital in Sugar
Land for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Malvin’s name may be made
to the American Diabetes Association.
