Karen Easterling P. McElligott, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was born on January 8, 1951, in Ironton, Ohio, to Clarence and Ethel (Jones) Easterling.
Karen was a 1969 graduate of Ironton High School in Ironton, Ohio, and attended classes at Ohio University. She went on to build a successful career in the medical field, ultimately becoming the owner of Sunbelt Lithotripsy, a business she built through hard work and dedication.
Karen was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Missouri City, Texas. She was also an active member of Quail Valley Golf Club and Sweetwater Country Club, where she made lifelong friends and enjoyed her passion for golf during her early and mid-adult years. Karen loved tending to her garden, which flourished with herbs and tomatoes, and she took great pride in her home and family. She had an impeccable sense of style and enjoyed sharing chardonnay and conversation with her close friends at Quail Valley.
Karen was preceded in death by her previous husband, Steven Perlman; her parents, Clarence and Ethel Easterling; her sister, Ruth Willis; and her brothers, James Easterling, Raymond Lee Easterling, and Clarence Easterling.
She is survived by her loving husband of 19 and a half years, Jack McElligott; her son, Scott Newman Perlman; her bonus children, Erin Ayers, Shawn McElligott, and Patrick McElligott; her sisters, Mary Wilcoxon of Ironton, Ohio, and Ida Keaton of Hutchinson Island, Florida; and her grandchildren, Cody, Connor, and Elizabeth Ayers, and Olivia and Paige McElligott. She was also blessed with a special niece and nephew, Rayetta Waldo and Brent Wilcoxon, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, most of whom reside in Ohio.
Karen’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for their compassionate care over the years.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Karen’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Missouri City, Texas, December 6, 2024 at 10:30 am officiated by Pastor Jerome Brimmage. A Reception will immediately follow at Braeburn Country Club, 8101 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77074
