John "Hagen" Kopriva, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on November 4, 2024, at the age of 17. Born on July 26, 2007, in Missouri City, Texas, Hagen was a senior at Ridge Point High School, where he earned the Award of Academic Excellence and was a member of Nations Elite Baseball Organization, AVID, and the National Junior Honor Society. He was also a proud member of River Pointe Church.
Hagen embraced the outdoors from an early age, spending cherished moments with family and friends, from swimming at Grampy’s to fishing off Poppie’s boat to visiting CeCe in the Hill Country. His love for sports began with soccer and football, but it was baseball that captured his heart. Over the years, Hagen transitioned into umpiring, which became his passion. Known for rooting for the underdog, he was a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers and Denver Broncos.
As a big brother, Hagen deeply adored his younger brother, Hudson, with whom he shared countless adventures, whether building Lego sets, playing baseball, or enjoying time together in Tiki. Hagen also had a deep love for music, often heading to the mall with friends to buy new songs on vinyl. His compassion and selflessness were evident to everyone who knew him; he prioritized helping others succeed, finding fulfillment in their happiness rather than seeking recognition.
Hagen is survived by his loving parents, David and Jesika Kopriva; his cherished brother, Hudson David Kopriva; his grandparents, John T. Kopriva (Poppie), Celia Plante (Cece), and David and Sharon Tierce (Grandpa and Momma K); as well as his aunts and uncles, Lara Kopriva, Nathan Tierce, Brian (Crystal) Tierce, and Michael Tierce. He will also be dearly missed by his cousins, Keiley Tierce, Karsen Tierce, Mila Arya, Lexi Tierce, and Scarlett Tierce, along with numerous extended family members.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all their family, friends, and the River Pointe Church community for their unwavering support. They extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who shared in Hagen’s life, offering love, friendship, and guidance.
Honoring Hagen as pallbearers are his close friends and family members: Zach Barker, Gavin Gombar, Hunter Grundvig, Nick Martinez, Adam Moreno, Kezzy Okoye, Karsen Tierce, Jackson Woolley, and Parker Woolley. Hagen’s younger brother, Hudson Kopriva, will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at River Pointe Church, 7057 Knights Court, Missouri City, TX 77459, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life service officiated by Pastors Javier Malaret and Chad Harold. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charity close to your heart in honor of Hagen's memory.
