June 8, 1973 – August 21, 2022
Ianne Beltrano Perez Quila took her final breath August 21, 2022, at the age of 49, surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by Sam Quila, her husband; five children: Sara (together with son-in-law, Andrew), Noah, Hanna, Christina, and Jordan; her puppy grandchildren: Star, Arcanine, and Roman; her mother, Carmelita; and her siblings Tristan Jay (T.J.), Troy, Timothy, and Ira. Ianne is preceded in death by her father, Ponciano Perez.
Born on June 8, 1973, in Quezon City, Philippines, Ianne immigrated to the U.S. in 1983 with her parents and siblings. In 1995, she graduated from Houston Baptist University and began her teaching career with Fort Bend ISD. Ianne earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership & Administration from the University of Houston - Victoria in 2013. Thereafter, she joined Stafford Middle School as an assistant principal. In July 2017, however, Ianne was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer and decided to step down from her administrative role. Ianne returned to the elementary classroom in 2018 as a third grade teacher at James Neill Elementary, where her two youngest children attended. She retired in June 2022. For 27 years, Ianne was not only an educator, but also a mentor, role model, friend, and confidant to hundreds of children in the public schools she served.
Having won the Reyna Elena pageant in 1989, Miss Philippines Houston in 1991, Miss HBU in 1992, and Miss Fort Bend for Miss Petite Texas in 1993, Ianne was known in the community for her incomparable beauty. Even in her final days, despite cancer treatment, the resulting hair loss, and the passing of time, she was still as radiant as ever.
And yet, for those fortunate enough to have known her personally at any point in her life, she was somehow even more beautiful on the inside. Ianne was generous and kind, and she always sought to see the good in every person or situation. She was unabashedly true to herself, her loved ones, and her faith. Indeed, at only 18 years old, Ianne donated the prize money from the Miss Philippines Houston pageant to a church in her grandmother’s provincial hometown of Minalabac, Camarines Sur, Philippines. And, despite her cancer diagnosis in 2017 and the suffering that followed, she continued teaching CCE classes to the youth at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land.
Ianne was the life of the party. She loved to dance, sing, and talk your ears off. She was confident, funny, loud, warm, and welcoming to all who crossed her path. There were no strangers in her life—only friends she hadn’t met yet. Put simply, she lived a joyful life and lived to share that joy with others. Accordingly, in celebration of her life and memory, the Quila and Perez families would like to invite her loved ones, friends, and colleagues, to celebrate her life at the memorial services below:
