Harry was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on November 21, 1936. Son of Anna Marie Rau Brondel Schuster and Charles Theodore Brondel, Harry grew up on a farm in Tipton, Missouri.
After Harry graduated from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served on active duty from 1954 to 1956. After his time in the military, he began working for Hallmark, where he operated an embossing machine. He resigned to attend college and, in 1966, graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a degree in physics from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. After moving his family to Sunnyvale, California, to work for Lockheed, Harry settled in Houston, Texas, to begin his 29 year career with Exxon in the research lab.
Retirement allowed Harry to spend more time with his passions for gardening, reading and being actively involved in his grandchildren’s lives.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jerome Bernard Brondel and Wayne Allen Schuster, and his sister Evelyn Ann Brondel.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Vena Lee Thompson Brondel; his first cousin, Rita Jean Geiser; his children, Catherine Ann (Gary) McFarland and Stirling Martin (Sonya) Brondel; his grandchildren, Stephen Lee (Arianna) McFarland, Robert Alan (Cassie) McFarland, Bradley Matthews McFarland (Ricardo) Castillo, Kate Elizabeth McFarland, Nicolas Bevan Medina, Michael Patrick Medina, Madison Chance Brondel, and Elisabeth Catherine Brondel; and his great-grandchildren, Laramie Lane Denman, Hadley Brondel Johnson, Ledger Cade McFarland, Lincoln Jude McFarland, Sarynn Ella McFarland and Luca Declan McFarland, and multiple nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
