CHOI FUNG LEE, 99, beloved mother, grandmother, and godmother, went to be with the Lord on Thursday August 4, 2016. She was a longtime resident of Houston and Sugar Land, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charlie Lee, in July 1981 and son, Kirk Ching Lee, in March 2016. She leaves to cherish her memories daughter-in-law, Chi-Ying, grandson, Bryan, god-daughter, Mrs. Doris (Allen) Joe and Family, all of Houston, god-son, Mr. Nelson (Eunice) Yuen and Family, of Toronto, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, and good friends. She was born on March 10, 1917 in the Gor Family Village in Hoiping, China, and was the sixth child and youngest daughter in her family. During the Japanese invasion of China in World War II, she fled the mainland and escaped to Hong Kong with her son in 1949. She later immigrated to Houston, Texas in January, 1959 to join her son and husband. Together with her husband and his relatives, they ran the Super Daylight Grocery & Market on West Dallas Avenue for many years. After leaving the grocery business, she went to work as a cook at Trader Vic’s at Shamrock Hilton until her retirement in 1985. She was a longtime member of the Chinese Baptist Church and the Gor’s Family Association, and lived a full and vibrant life. She was well loved by those who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 12th, at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 13th with Pastor Kai-Yuen Choi officiating, at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478 followed by interment at noon at the Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. The family requests that in lieu of usual remembrances, donations be made to the Chinese Baptist Church, 900 Brogden Road, Houston, Texas 77024.
