Virginia M. Duffy (“Ginny”, “Dolly”) of Suffern, New York passed away peacefully on November 4, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born in Queens on November 18, 1927 to Virginia and Henry Schucht. On May 6, 1950 she married the love of her life, Bob, who predeceased her in 1985.
Ginny is survived by her children, Maureen Moreau and husband Chip of Nanuet, Robert Duffy and wife Marcia of Garnerville, in addition her “baby” brother Arthur (Mickey) Schucht of Belmar, New Jersey. Ginny is also predeceased by her other two brothers, John and Fred Schucht. Her three beautiful, loving granddaughters Megan, Erin, and Cara Moreau will greatly miss her and remember all her words of wisdom.
Ginny was an active member of both Sacred Heart Church and St. Boniface Church where she served as a lector, religion teacher, and choir member for over 25 years. Committed to serving her community, she was a volunteer at the Robert Yeager Health Complex in Pomona for 25 years where she was the vocalist at the weekly Masses. Ginny was also one of the finest nursery school teachers at the Suffern YMCA.
She was a very special lady to everyone she came in contact with. She always had a smile, a compliment, or something witty to say to make a person’s day complete. One of Ginny’s favorite sayings was “Please come to my funeral” so the family welcomes you to celebrate Ginny’s love of life.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2016, 1-4 and 7-9 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59 in Suffern, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Church in Wesley Hills, N.Y. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, N.Y.
Donations are being requested to the Alzheimer’s Association in Ginny’s memory.
