Norman E. Vogel of Suffern, NY passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the age of 92. Norman was born to August and Carrie (nee Janssen) Vogel in Brooklyn, NY on September 19, 1925. A graduate of Brooklyn Technical School; class of 1943 Norman was drafted into the U.S. Army February of 1944.
He served in the Rhineland and the Battle of the Bulge before being honorably discharged in April of 1946. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
He went on to become a manager of operations support for an industrial water and waste engineering and manufacturing company, Zern.
A family man first, Norman took a keen interest in the lives of his immediate family and close friends- ever hopeful and always striving to improve their lives. He was the voice of reason.
Not your average pedestrian, Norman was an avid walker who enjoyed spectator sports, playing pinochle, reading and travel.
Norman is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth (nee Haid) Vogel, cherished children Patricia, Robert, and Elizabeth and ; 6 grandchildren Kristin, Matthew, Eric, Peter, Jeffrey, and Hannah; 4 great grandchildren Holden, Ellis, Easton, and Carson; sister, Eleanor Mathson; niece Lynn Raymond and grand nieces Dana, and Meghan. He was our everything!
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 2-6pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A Family led funeral service will be celebrated 10am on Friday, June 22 also at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home with burial to follow at Calverton National Cemetery in Riverhead, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
