Michael J. Dolan was born in the Bronx, NY on September 16th, 1943 and passed on June 27, 2023 in Suffern NY; he was 79 years old. The oldest son of Michael V. Dolan and Margaret Kelly, he is survived by his sister Ellen Mary, his wife Marianne, his three children: Michael A., John and wife Theresa, Nadene Zic, and his four grandchildren Marilyn, Bronwyn, Jasper, and Anica.
Although a city kid, he moved to Sloatsburg in 1974 and made it his permanent home. He was heavily involved in local politics and committees: he served as a Liaison to NYS Assemblyman Karl A. Brabenec, was president and chairman of the Town of Ramapo Republican Committee, was a member of the Village of Sloatsburg Zoning Board, a member and past president of the Ramapo Valley Rotary club; a member on The Sloatsburg Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer for the Sloatsburg Ambulance Corp., and a founding member of the Village of Sloatsburg Recycling Committee. His civic involvement stretched to his career, working for the Office of Community Development as the HOME Program Coordinator. He was also involved in cable for many decades serving as the General Manager of TKR Cable and as Cable Consultant for Michael J. Dolan and Associates.
He was a man who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and patriot. He served in the Armed Forces and continued working with vets until he was no longer able to. He was a man of few or many words depending upon the arena. He believed in kindness and charity and instilled that in his family, friends and community. He was a man who would give the shirt off his back without a second thought.
Services will be held on Friday, June 30th from 4-8 at Wanamaker and Carlough and on Saturday, July 1st, a funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc in Sloatsburg, NY. Donations can be made in his name to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
