Mario DeRose was truly a beloved man. For those who knew him, knew he was quiet and soft spoken, yet so full of life. Anytime he would have anything to say, it was sure to bring a smile or laughter to those around him. He enjoyed the quiet of nature, and would be found enjoying whatever scenery surrounded him in peace.
His parents were Ersilia & Cesar. He was raised with 7 in Cosenza, Italy. He had one younger brother, Octavio, three older sisters, Ida, Enza & Anna, and three older brothers, Giuseppe, Franco & Alfredo. Recently, a family member recalled memories of Mario & Octavio, always walking hand in hand and always together, and that he was the most beautiful little boy.
As he was growing up, Mario developed into a person who enjoyed physically doing things, and he took pleasure in using his hands in order to create. He worked for many years as a house painter, but also took such pride in fixing his home with his own hands.
An old fashioned man who believed in working hard and providing for his family, Mario was blessed with two children, one son, Mario Jr, and one daughter, Susan. They were also blessed with four grandchildren, James, Ana, Josh and Tanner.
Mario enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were Bocce ball, watching westerns and spending time with family. He loved watching soccer and shared that love with his son. He enjoyed listening to traditional Italian music.
Because he loved the world around him, Mario enjoyed traveling to his home in Arizona and spending his winters there. He always wanted to revisit his home country and teach his grandchildren about his history.
Mario passed away on October 1, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mario fought a brave battle against cancer. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children Mario & Susan; his grandchildren James, Josh, Ana & Tanner; his siblings Octavio, Alfredo, Anna, & Enza. Services held at Sacred Heart Church. Mario will be laid to rest in Ascension Cemetery.
