Marie grew up and attended school in Suffern, NY. She married Robert L. Osborne and resided in Sloatsburg, NY. She later moved to Newburgh, NY and was married to Robert Johnson. Marie was a stay at home mom for many years. As her children grew up, she went back to school to earn her GED and became a bus driver for the Marlboro School District.
She eventually moved to Florida and stayed there for almost 40 years. She loved living in the Sunshine State. Early in her move, she earned a Nursing Assistant Certificate. She eventually got employment as a security officer and worked several years in that capacity until retirement. She enjoyed hiking, biking, swimming, singing, dancing, gardening (she could never resist passing a plant she liked without snipping off a piece to take home to root), and going to flea markets and local thrift stores. She also got a kick out of watching the birds splash around in her birdbath and coming to get the birdseed, she put out.
Marie did not like to fly. She made many trips driving back and forth between Florida and New York for visits over the years. She made an exception when she actually flew to England to meet the pen pal she had corresponded with since seventh grade.
A moment she considered special in her life, was when she got to shake hands with entertainer, Tom Jones.
She finally had to return to New York State because of her health. Over the last two years, she was able to celebrate the holidays and special occasions with the family which was something she missed when in Florida.
Thanks to lifelong friend, Lorraine Brush, and longtime friends, Shirley Aguiar and Kristina Starkloff for being such caring friends and maintaining contact with Marie over the years. A special thanks to the staff at Lutheran (Cottage and Bryant Unit) for their care over the last two years, and a thanks to friends and family for their support and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in her name should be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or the charity of one’s choice.
