John R Cerullo

John was born August 2, 1926 to Constance & Pellegrino Cerullo in Bayonne, NJ. He was the oldest of five children. After graduating from Bayonne Technical High School for math and science in 1944, he served in the Army. John was stationed in Hiroshima, Japan before returning home in 1946. Upon his return, he worked as a Fishmonger in Bayonne and began studying Metallurgy at Newark College of Engineering. After graduating in 1956 with a degree in Chemical Electroplating, he moved to Suffern, NY, and began his long professional career as a Metallurgist at International Nickel. In 1981, after 25 years as a researcher, John retired. Shortly thereafter, in 1983, he married his wife Constance (“Connie”) Cerullo, who predeceased him.

John and his wife Connie loved to summer in Wildwood Crest, NJ, winter in Venice, FL, and travel internationally. He was well known in Suffern and an active member of the Montebello Senior Citizens Club. He also participated in numerous art programs throughout the tri-state area. John was a devoted Christian Scientist and enjoyed painting and cooking. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor, and always wanted to talk and share stories. John was a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather and uncle, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 4th at the Suffern Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Christian Science Church.
