Born April 10, 1924 in the hamlet of Ramapo, New York, she was the loving daughter of Bonnie (Barsky) and Jan Wysocki. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Higinson Jr, daughter, Patricia Higinson Marsh, her brothers Frank, Edward and Joseph and sisters Anita, Helen and Wanda.
Jean is loved and survived by her granddaughters, Jennifer Marsh-Colby, (husband CJ Colby) Jessica Marsh (Joseph Clifford) and her great grandsons Anthony, Jonathan, Jordan and Jake. As well as her sister Marion (husband Mike Seman,) of South Carolina and Brother John Wysocki of Florida. In addition, many loving nieces and nephews.
Jean was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joan of Arc church in Sloatsburg and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also an active member of the Sloatsburg fire department Ladies Auxiliary since 1948. Jean attended Suffern high school and was employed by the A & P in Suffern, followed by running the family owned business, H & W printers, in Suffern NY. She enjoyed crafting in life, particularly creating beautiful eggshell scenes, which she proudly displayed at the print shop. She was a member of the Mahwah Elks, where she enjoyed decorating for parties and all of the holiday events held.
To Jean, family and friends were everything. Warmly known to all as “Nan”, she had a smile that lit up the room and made everyone feel welcome and loved. Jean was a treasure in this world and will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY on Tuesday, October 1st at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at The Brick Church Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
