Jack Conceicao, 67, passed away on April 21, 2023 with his wife, daughters, and son-in-law at his side after a short illness. Jack was born to Belmira Conceicao (nee Quiroz) and Joaquim Conceicao and was raised in the Arthur Avenue area of the Bronx, NY.
Growing up, Jack attended Our Lady of Mt Carmel, and Cardinal Hayes High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and gained a master’s degree in education from Queens College. It was at Fordham University that he found his love for Journalism, and working on their radio station WFUV gave him experiences he spoke of often. Jack began his illustrious career of 44 years as a writer and editor at 1010 WINS Radio before graduating from Fordham. He loved his WINS family and his job and was fondly recognized by many as “Jack Conceicao at the editor’s desk.” He loved passing along his knowledge to his younger colleagues and was awarded many honors in the journalism field. To many, he was considered a legend in his craft. Jack also taught at Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament in Bayside NY, St Francis DeChantel in the Bronx, and College of Mt Saint Vincent.
A memorial service will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home on Thursday May 11th from 4-9PM.
