Dr. Ivan K. Goldberg of Pomona, NY died on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. He was 79. Dr. Goldberg was born in Brooklyn, NY to Morris and Florence Goldberg. He attended Johns Hopkins University and New York University College of Medicine. In private practice for 50 years, specializing in psycho-pharmacology and depression, his offices were located in New York City and Bardonia, NY. He was Associate Psychiatrist, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center for 23 years. In 1986 he founded Psycom.net. The site includes the popular, “Dr. Ivan’s Depression Central” and a listserv with many email lists used by over 4,000 mental health professionals worldwide. Dr. Goldberg is the author of “Questions and Answers About Depression and its Treatment” as well as many other books. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the American Psychiatric Association’s 2014 Distinguished Service Award. In addition, Dr. Goldberg was an avid photographer in black and white and most recently in infrared. Many of his photographs have been displayed in museums worldwide.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Cynthia Meyer Goldberg; two daughters, Bonni Goldberg of Portland, OR and Meredith Goldberg of New York City; two step-sons, Vincent and Eric Matal, and one granddaughter, Isabel Kendall of Portland, OR. He is predeceased by his brother, Steven and his sister, Diane.
Memorial Service will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the ACLU. Condolences can be sent via www.wanamakercarlough.com.

My sister, Bonni and I invite you to gather with us this Saturday, December 7th, from 5pm -9pm at Beth Israel Hospital, 10 Nathan D. Perlman Place, Bernstein Pavilion, Conference room B, New York, N.Y. We would love for everyone to join us to share memories, stories and lasting impressions about our father. Our hope is we all leave with a little bit more of Ivan. Please join us for as much time as you like. There is no formal program, just a coming together of family, friends, patients and colleagues to celebrate, mourn and honor Ivan Goldberg.
