Anthony Martone, 73, of Sloatsburg, NY passed away September 14th, 2021. He was born in The Bronx, NY on September 5th 1948. Anthony was married to Patricia Masterson Martone October 10th, 1970. Patricia and Anthony were inseparable during their 50 years of marriage, having rarely spent any time apart. Known as Anthony to his family, “Tony” to friends, and “Weegee” to his childhood friends. Tony graduated from the NYPD Police Academy in 1969. He served the city as a Patrolman and Detective for 20 years. Tony spent tours with the 34, 42, and 48 Precincts in the boroughs of the Bronx and Manhattan. After retiring from being “on the job”, Tony then served as the Head of Security and Guest Relations for the Warwick Hotel in Midtown Manhattan for 24 years. Tony volunteered with Suffern Little League, as a board member and coach. He also devoted his time as the President of the Don Bosco Prep Touchdown Club. Volunteer work also saw Tony dedicate time to the Town of Sloatsburg zoning and planning boards.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Patricia, 3 sons, Anthony, Christopher, and Michael, Daughter-in-Law, Lisa, 3 grandchildren, Avery, George, and Rory. Also Brother, John, Sisters Eloise and Mary Beth, and Cousin Bruce Weston. Tony really loved to spend time with family and friends. Whether at a Yankee game, on the beaches of Hilton Head Island, or swimming with his grandchildren; these were the places and activities he loved most. Additionally, Tony was an avid reader and his passion for crossword puzzles never waned. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and provide solid, succinct advice to anyone who needed his help.
He loved nothing more than to sit down at dinner surrounded by his family and friends. The most important thing in Tony’s life was being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, for which he will forever be lovingly remembered. Visiting hours are Sunday 9/19/21 from 3p-7p at Wanamaker-Carlough Suffern, NY.
Funeral arrangements will be held 10:30am, 9/20/21, St Joan of Arc Parish Sloatsburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, Tony would have been grateful that a donation was made to the NYC PBA Widows and Children’s Fund, https://www.nycpba.org/community/widows-and-childrens-fund/.
