Dianne June Mahany, of Sudbury, died on 12 June 2024 after a brief illness.
A graduate of Tufts University with a BA with honors in philosophy, Dianne worked for a number of years in the computer industry. During this time she received her MBA with highest distinction from Babson College.
After early retirement from Compaq, she began a second career as adjunct faculty at Bentley University and then at Simmons University in their healthcare programs. A consistent focus from the time she was a high-school band member until her death was music. As an amateur clarinetist, Dianne spent many summers at the Bennington Chamber Music Conference and was the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Conference. In addition, she was principal clarinetist of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra and then, most recently, principal clarinetist of the Carlisle Chamber Orchestra.
Dianne brought passion to all she did, especially her contributions to the music ministry of Our Lady of Fatima, in Sudbury. She was also a faithful member of a small group of parishioners at Ascension Parish.
She leaves her beloved New Hampshire family (brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Mary, nephews Bill and John, grandniece and nephews, and cousins) and beloved friends and musicians from many countries.
These relatives and friends are grateful to the loving care provided to Dianne at the end of her life by staff and hospice personnel at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 26th at The Ascension Parish (Our Lady of Fatima), 160 Concord Rd, Sudbury, at 12PM. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 329 Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA.
