Anne Marie McCarthy, 70, passed away December 4, 2021 at her home in Sudbury, MA. She was the beloved wife of Terrence McCarthy. They celebrated their 45th anniversary this past August. She was the loving mother of Brendan McCarthy (Kara Lam) of Marshfield, Christopher McCarthy (Nataly Dvash) of Lincoln, Peter McCarthy of Boston and delighted grandmother of Eli Dvash McCarthy. She was a cherished sister to Mary Anne Leo (Paul Cleary) of Oceanside, CA, Linda O’Leary (Thomas O’Leary) of Natick, Alan Leo (Barbara Laverdiere) of North Attleborough, Alice Leo (Michael Geisler) of Purchase, NY, Matthew Leo (Wendy Leo) of Melrose, and dear sister-in-law to Judy and Charles McCarthy of Somerville, MA and Ruth Rohach of Turnersville, NJ. She was also a special auntie to all her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Edna (Bredeau) Leo and Wee Leo, and her brothers Richard Leo and John Leo.
Anne Marie’s life’s work was devoted to bettering the lives of others. She was proud of her early work as a social worker and union representative and equally proud of her later work as a teacher’s assistant in the Sudbury school system and CCD teacher for Our Lady of Fatima Church. Anne Marie was a wonderful cook and gardener and loved spending time outdoors and traveling, especially family trips to Cape Cod and far away destinations. Raising three sweet boys into three men who remained sweet was Anne Marie’s self-proclaimed greatest accomplishment, which she shared with her husband. Her grandson, Eli Dvash McCarthy was a constant source of joy; she especially enjoyed reading bedtime stories to him and watching him play on the floor with Grampy. Anne Marie had a mindful spirit and took note of all the joys life offered, both small and grand.
