It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved mother Ann M. Johnson, at the age of 93, on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Ann was a pillar of strength, determination, and resilience. She was a beacon of fortitude raising four rambunctious children as a single mother with the help of her late mother Pauline Hirschberg. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Born on August 31,1931 in Chicago, Illinois, Ann was the only child of Pauline and Edward Hirschberg. As a young adult she lived in Texas, Illinois, Ohio, and Connecticut. Ann settled in Sudbury, Massachusetts for over 50 years where she worked for the Town of Sudbury then moved on to work at Brandeis University as an administrative assistant until she retired.
Ann was passionate about learning. Her appetite for learning spanned many subjects, her favorite being history - a true history buff by any measure. Ann also had a deep affinity for the arts, she made frequent visits to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, where she was a member for many years. She enjoyed attending lectures and ballets as well. She and her late daughter Donna Johnson were avid antique collectors. The Sudbury Senior Center became a focal point to socialize with her friends and attend events.
Ann’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her daughters Lynne Johnson and Lauren Arruda, her son David Johnson, her grandchildren Valerie Arruda, Jessica Adamyk, Justin Johnson, Mikey Johnson, Christina Johnson, Sandra Johnson, Amanda Pelletier, and Gail Fait, her great grandchildren Lillian and Harrison Pelletier, Grace and Goldie Fait, and Rowe Adamyk.
A visitation will be held in the Duckett - J.S Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd, Sudbury, MA on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial and closing words immediately following at Wadsworth Cemetery, Sudbury.
