Steven Dale Harris

Born August 17, 1959 in Staunton, he was the son of Shirley Elizabeth (Cash) Harris Hise and the late Paul Thomas Harris, Jr.

Prior to retirement, Steven was employed by Rexnord LLC of Stuarts Draft where he worked as a machinist for over 35 years. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dirt track racing. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley (Cash) Harris Hise and husband, Richard of Stuarts Draft; siblings, Karen (Harris) Knight and husband, Larry of Palmyra, VA, Paul Thomas “Tommy” Harris, III and wife, Sherry of Stuarts Draft, Dianne (Harris) Buxton and husband, Mike of Staunton; eight nieces and nephews; 17 great nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Roger Lee Brooks, David Harris, Scott Harris, and Wayne Wagner.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft. The family requests casual dress attire.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at White Hill Church of the Brethren, 749 Old White Hill Road, Stuarts Draft with Earl David Cash officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Harris, Robbie Harris, Clint Lowry, Scott Harris, Nick Halterman, and Cody Knight.

The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad for their assistance.
