Paula Joyce Steele

Paula Joyce Steele (March 18, 1957 ~ September 3, 2024) was born in Norman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Professor and Mrs. Floyd Olan Calvert. She graduated Norman High School, class of 1975, and Oklahoma Baptist University, class of 1979. Paula is survived by her children and grandchildren ~ Amber Dawn Poole, Avalon and Riven; Jessica Ann and Daniel Caruthers, Nova and Vada Mae; Kendra Lynn and Chad Cowart, Eden Dawn; Michael Poole and Jac, John Thomas; Christopher Steele and Samantha, Ruby Jean. Paula is survived by siblings Sherry Lynn Calvert, Hallie Ann Gee, Cary Mark Calvert and wife Maria, Wendy Jean Hodges and husband Richard. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Paula lived in Norman, OK; Naperville, IL; Decatur, AL; Aiken, SC; and Lexington, VA, among other places. She made lasting friendships everywhere she lived. She loved being outdoors and worked at several National Parks, among them Yellowstone, Glacier and Death Valley. She also worked at the Bar NI Ranch in Colorado. Paula was a competitive runner and loved running and hiking with her beloved dog, Cooper. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 at Grace Presbyterian Church (40 Village Way, Lexington, VA 24450).
