Born May 2, 1930 in Hurricane, WV; he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Ella Mae (Edwards) Nicholas. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran having served his country honorably during the Korean War. He previously worked as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed building everything and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Nicholas; son, Roger Nicholas; four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his loving children Kathy Robertson and husband, Bucky of Stuarts Draft and Bobby Nicholas and wife, Crystal of North Carolina; step-daughters, Dreame Nycum and husband, Ike, Faye Acord and Donna Johnson and husband, Daily; grandchildren, Lori Branch and husband, Tracy, Allen Robertson and wife, Megan, Johnathan Nicholas and wife, Megan, Mindie Nicholas, Jacob Nicholas, Angel Nicholas and Abigail Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Robertson, Landon Robertson, Zoey Nicholas and Payton Nicholas; also surviving is the mother of his children, Phyllis Mays.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Dennis Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship Cemetery. Military honors will be provided graveside by the American Legion Post 340.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, Kathy, at 1163 Howardsville Turnpike, Stuarts Draft, VA.
