Born July 19, 1944 in Augusta County, he was a son of the late Granville R. and Ruth Lee (Robertson) Lowery. On October 31, 1965 he married Rita J. Hildebrand. The two shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Prior to retirement, Lawrence worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a skilled mechanic and loved working on cars. As an avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed being outside and hunting. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norman E. Lowery; sisters, Shirley Lowery Braden, Alese Lowery, and Dorothy E. Baber; and sister-in-law, Darlene M. Lowery.
Survivors include his wife, Rita J. Lowery; son, Russell W. Lowery and wife, Rebecca K. Hanger; brother, Dennis “Denny” Lowery; nieces, Donna “Donnie” Loan, Teri Brown, Angie Braden, and Barbara Harp and husband, John; great niece, Elizabeth Braden-Howdyshell and husband, Aaron; great-great-niece, Lillian Mae Lee Braden Howdyshell; close friend, Buck Loan, and a number of great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at his home. Per his wishes, there will be no formal services.
