Landon Robert Quick, Sr., 75, of Sherando, passed away on Sunday May 10, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Quick was born on June 29, 1937 in Albemarle County, and was a son of the late French Randolph and Inez (Henderson) Quick. He retired from Wayne-Tex in 1997 where he worked for 38 years as a lead operator. Landon was a devoted member of Waynesboro Mennonite Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, watching baseball and was a diehard New York Yankees fan. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
On June 25, 1957 he married Judith Mae (Fitzgerald) Quick who preceded him in death on November 13, 1994.
Mr. Quick is survived by a son, Landon R. “Robbie” Quick, Jr., and friend Bobbi Gale of Staunton; girlfriend, Charlotte Kyle of Waynesboro; and two grandchildren, Brandon Robert Quick and Cierra Michelle Quick. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Quick was preceded in death by an infant son William Randolph Quick, and a brother, Louis Quick.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday March 14, 2013 at 1 PM at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Pastor Howard Miller and Charles Ramsey officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at Waynesboro Mennonite Church. There will be no formal visitation, however, friends may visit the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes to sign the register book on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 until 5 pm.
Active pallbearers for the service will be Richard Eckard, Billy Eckard, Byron Lunsford, Henry Fitzgerald, Chuck Lunsford and Otho Bruce. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and former co-workers from Wayne-Tex.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waynesboro Mennonite Church, 1801 Monroe St., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
