Cecil Ray Hailey

Cecil was born on September 15, 1952 in Stuarts Draft, a son of the late Harry and Janie Ray Hailey.

He worked at Hershey Chocolate for 29 years. He was one of the first five mechanics hired. He was machinist and maintenance certified. He also worked at Nibco for 10 years and Industrial Machine Shop.

He was a former President of the Stuarts Draft Quarterback Club and coached both Little League Football and Baseball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jay Gildroy, sister-in-law, Bonnie Conner, father and mother-in-law, Henry and Frances Ward.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 38 years, Shelby Jean Hailey, his children; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Laurie Hailey and daughter, Christy Gildroy.

His grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Jessica Bell, Alexis Gildroy, Makayla Frazier, Isaac Hailey, Ashton Gildroy, Isaac’s mother, Andrea Hailey.

He also leaves his brothers and sisters; Laura Jane Hailey of Stuarts Draft, Ralph Hailey and wife Wanda of Stuarts Draft, Steve Hailey and wife Frances of Waynesboro, John Hailey and Kim of Stuarts Draft, Emma Zimmerman of Waynesboro, Leo Hailey of Stuarts Draft, Preston Hailey and wife Teresa of Stuarts Draft.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by Pastor Randy Blankenship. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be John Hailey, Steve Hailey, Preston Hailey, Bill Hailey, Eddie Hailey, Gary Fretwell, Kenny Sprouse and Chuck Conner.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces, nephews and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends this Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
