Born in Madelia, Minnesota, Mr. Russell had previously lived in Huntingdon Valley, PA before relocating to the Palm City area in 1984.
He graduated from The University of Minnesota with his BA in Business Management, and then served our country in The United States Navy during World War II flying convoy escort missions in PBY Catalina aircraft and K-Class blimps. Following WWII, Mr. Russell was a successful salesman for Philco Corporation. In 1968 he opened the first of four Burger King Restaurants in the Philadelphia area which he operated until 1984
An avid golfer, Bill was a member of Huntingdon Valley Country Club in PA, until moving to Pipers Landing Yacht and Country Club in Palm City, FL in 1984. Mr. Russell was loved by many and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his son, Ed Russell (Nancy Lopez) of Palm City, FL; daughter, Sandra Yeager (Gene) of Davenport, FL; daughter, Laurie Rolley (Rob) of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Deidre Lynch, James Dayton, Taryn Bergstrom, and Kimberly Rolley; and 8 great grandchildren.
Mr. Russell was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Della; his daughter, Wendy and brother, John M. Russell.
Celebration of life will be held on a Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2-4 PM at Piper’s Landing Yacht and Country Club in Palm City, FL. A graveside service will be held on December 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM at George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting, PA.
