Mr. Richard C Lindsey

On Thursday, January 22, 2015, Richard Clare Lindsey (79) of Stuart, FL, a dearly-loved father, grandfather, brother, and friend departed this life for his eternal home with God. Dad was born on March 21, 1935 in Shermansille, PA, to Kenneth and Ruth Keppel- Lindsey. At the age of 8, he began working on the neighbors’ farms, and at 14 he went to work for Bill Bollard’s Plumbing Shop, which he later said was one of the best things that ever happened to him. In his 1953 yearbook, Dad was voted most likely to succeed by his classmates at Conneaut Lake High School. Dad showed a talent for baseball at an early age when he played center field for the Shermansville Robins and for his high school, which led to an invitation to try out for the Chicago Cubs, but God had different plans for him. After serving in the Army and receiving his license as a master plumber, Dad moved to Stuart where he opened R.C. Lindsey Plumbing in February 1962, which is still in operation today as a testimony to Dad’s hard work and commitment to quality customer service. Although Dad earned an outstanding reputation in the plumbing business, what he was most proud of was his five independent and “productive” daughters-Melody Lindsey-Roane of Richmond, VA, Dr. Merry Lindsey of Jackson, MS, Lorrie Lindsey, Jewel Lindsey-Sands and Mona Lindsey all of Stuart, FL. He is also survived by three grandsons, Branden Sands and Evan and Cameron Beaver of Stuart, FL, a brother, Kenneth Lindsey of Gates, OR, and a sister Diane McGuire of Citrus Heights, CA. During the 1970s, Dad was proud to serve as a volunteer EMT in Martin County, and in 1976 he ran for the County Commission. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed working on his farm in Monticello, FL growing pecans. He loved going to Port St. Lucie Mets baseball games, walking the beach for miles and, most importantly, spending time with his daughters. Dad was always passionate about fighting for individual rights, and If he believed in your cause, you had a tireless advocate and worker. At 79, Dad could still outwork most twenty-year-olds. It is fitting to say that on January 22, our world changed forever. We will carry on his legacy of integrity, hard work, and loyalty to family, friends, and country. When Dad exited this life and entered eternity, we are sure God said, “Well-done, good and faithful servant.” The pecan orchards of heaven will be forever well-tended and cared for. The family of Richard C. Lindsey will receive visitors on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 at Aycock Funeral Home Young and Prill Chapel located at 6801 S.E. Federal Hwy. in south Stuart. A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, January 28, at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery located at 1501 S. Kanner Hwy.
