Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Cook previously lived in Dayton, NJ before moving to Stuart in 1984, and he spent most summers throughout his life in Cape May Point, NJ.
Mr. Cook was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and Duke University and did additional graduate work at Syracuse University and Rutgers University, where he was acting Chairman of the Forestry Department. He was an executive with Johnson and Johnson for twenty years, and later, a director with the National Wholesale Druggists’ Association (now known as the Healthcare Distribution Management Association). He was a long-term member of the Archaeological Society of New Jersey as well a member of the Penn State Pioneer Club and the Duke University Half Century Club. Mr. Cook proudly served with the United States Army Air Corp 451st Bomb Group in Italy during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 386 in Cape May, New Jersey.
He is survived by three daughters: Carolyn Gotay (Mark) of West Vancouver, BC; Pamela Cook (Paul Gietzel) of San Rafael, CA; and Diane Cook of Raleigh, NC; and grandchildren, Alexander Gotay of West Vancouver, BC; Maria Gotay of Brooklyn, NY; and Kevin Gietzel (Sandy Rogers) of Roseville, CA; and many loving friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Winifred Imhof Cook, and his brother, Carter Cairns Cook.
A private gathering will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 starting at 10:30 AM at the Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart, FL. Interment will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens, Stuart, FL.
