Mike was born January 4, 1933 in Chicago, IL. He was married to the
love of his life, Maralyn Lyman Reilly for more than 63 years. He
attended St. Ignatius Prep and earned a master’s degree in business
from Northwestern University. Mike was Chief Executive Officer of
Zeigler Coal Company and was Chairman of the National Coal
Association.
Mike was on the Board of Newmont Mining Company, was a member of
Alex de Tocqueville Society and United Way of Martin County, Florida.
Board member of the Boy Scouts of America and St. Mary’s Hospital in
St. Louis. He was a founding supporter of the Jesuit Academy in Chicago
and received a Founders Award at St. Ignatius College Prep.
Mike was a member of LaGrange Country Club for 52 years and Loblolly
Pines Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida for 32 years. He was also a
member of Butler National and St. Clair Country Clubs. He is an Army
Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Norman and Helen Colnon Reilly,
his brothers; John, Edward and Paul, as well as his sister Jane Smith.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife Maralyn and his four children,
Mark (Jeanne) Reilly, Erin (Arthur) LaVallie, Lynne (Jack Jones) Watka
and Michael Reilly; Grandchildren: Christopher (Kate) Reilly, John Reilly,
Kevin (Lindsey) Reilly, Grace (William) Burke, Taylor (Nicholas) Scimeca,
Connor(Natalia) La Vallie, Lauren La Vallie (Luke Cissell), Nicholas Watka,
Jennifer (Matthew) Paris, Steven Watka, Helen Reilly, Michael Reilly,
Patrick Reilly, Maggie Reilly and Morgan Reilly; Great Grandchildren:
Tess, Claire, Declan, Liam, Reilly, Breigh, William, Charlotte, Violet,
Maxime, Arrow, Rowan and Sofia; a sister, Florence Scully and a brother,
Stuart Reilly.
A visitation will be held 4-8PM Friday, December 3 at the Adolf Funeral
Home 7000 South Madison Street, Willowbrook, IL with a Funeral Mass
Saturday 10AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, 124 N. Spring Avenue, La
Grange, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to The Jesuit Academy, Chicago, IL or to Hospice.
