Henry A. Childers

Born in Blue Springs, Alabama, he was a resident of Alabama, before relocating to the Stuart area fifty-nine years ago.

Mr. Childers was a teacher, an administrator and a school board member for the Martin County School System for thirty-five years in Stuart, Florida.

He devoted his life to the educational system of Martin County and had served on many local and state boards.

He was a member of Tropical Farms Baptist Church in Stuart, Florida.

He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp during the Battle of Iwo Jima and in World War II.

Mr. Childers is lovingly survived by his wife, Thelma A. Childers of Stuart, Florida; daughter, Barbara Childers-Hogan of Stuart, Florida; daughter, Gloria D. Koller (John) of Ft. Meyers, Florida; brother, Donnell Childers of West Palm Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Karen, Jeffrey, Jonathon, and Alex; and four great grandchildren, Valerie, Jewell, Sarah, and Leila.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Tropical Farms Baptist Church in Stuart, Florida with a reception to immediately follow at the church.
